Meet Lou Ann Mokwa

Lou Ann Mokwa grew up in a godly Lutheran household, where her love for Jesus and the Bible was nurtured. In 1991, she joined the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, further deepening her roots in faith.

Educational Journey and Career

Lou Ann holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University, earned in 1984. She spent 34 years working as a Registered Nurse and later as a Nurse Practitioner. Upon retirement, Lou Ann embraced a new calling — leading women’s Bible studies and encouraging spiritual growth among sisters in Christ.

Passion for Scripture

A lifelong lover of history and an avid reader, Lou Ann has always found the Bible to be an endless source of inspiration and study. Her deep connection to Scripture made teaching a natural transition. She now regularly leads women’s Bible studies at her home congregation, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI.

Contributions and Family Life

Lou Ann’s expertise extends to contributing to Bible study books for women and Christian resources. Her work includes writing for Holy Hen House magazine, creating the Advent by Candlelight service “Thee I Will Serve,” and collaborating on the 2022/2024 Advent Devotional series for WELS Women’s Ministry.

Lou Ann lives in Waupaca, WI, with her husband, Jim, and their dog, Sophie. Her daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren reside in Nashville, TN.
